McCormick Tribune Plaza and Ice Rink

Located at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Washington Street, the Plaza offers visitors one of the best views of Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue streetwall.

The 16,000 square foot Ice Skating Rink is tentatively scheduled to open on the Plaza on November 19, 2008 and run through March 15, 2009 (weather permitting).  Skating is free, and skate rental is available for $10.

Hours are 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.  For the Thanksgiving holiday on November 27, and on Christmas Day, December 25, the rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A warming lobby, restrooms and public lockers are available at the rink.  The zamboni will operate daily at 11:30 a.m.,1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:45 p.m.

The Ice Rink has a state-of-the-art chiller system that can maintain the ice even in the event of unseasonably warm weather. Several factors would need to be considered before the rink is closed. If you have questions about the weather, please call 312.742.5222.

In the summer, visitors can enjoy al fresco dining on the plaza at the Park Grill Restaurant. Reservations can be made by calling 312.521.PARK.

The Plaza has been made possible through a gift from the McCormick Tribune Foundation.
